- W2085559891 abstract "Abstract Changes in the electronic structure of the W(110) surface and Cu(111) overlayer have been measured as a function of Cu coverage using electron energy loss spectroscopy. When the coverage of copper is increased from zero to two monolayers (ML), the W 4f core excitation loss peak narrows and shifts 0.4 ± 0.1 eV to higher loss energy (primary energy E p = 130 eV). This increase results from removal of the clean surface core level shift plus a shift of approximately 0.3 eV to higher binding energy than the bulk. Meanwhile, the main Cu interband transition peak first appears at about 0.3 ML coverage with loss energy 3.7 eV. With increasing coverage this peak shifts, saturating at 2 ML at 4.3 eV, indicating the change of the electronic structure from submonolayer to multilayers." @default.
