- W2087831436 abstract "Abstract 1. 1. The results of 39 experiments performed on Triton palmatus and taeniatus indicate that there is a continuous rise of respiration in the early embryonic development. Such an incrase is slower until gastrulation, and more rapid at the end of gastrulation and during neurulation. 2. 2. The lethal hybrids of the combination Triton palmatus ♀ × Salamandra atra ♂ or Triton taeniatus ♀ × Salamandra atra ♂ show a lower rate of oxygen consumption than the controls in the critical phase i.e. in the advanced blastula stage. In later stages the respiratory rate remains low and the development does not exceed the early gastrula stage. 3. 3. Based on the results of the present study and those observed on the three lethal mutants in Drosophila melanogaster i.e. ltr , lgl , and lme , the general aspects in the metabolism of lethality are discussed." @default.
