- W2087986989 abstract "Aim of this retrospective study is to clarify the prognostic factors in 354 unexplained infertile couples in their first IUI cycles. A retrospective study in Reproductive Medicine Unit of an University Hospital. We analysed first IUI cycles of 354 infertile couples. Women had favourable prognosis in terms of ovarian reserve as they were<35 years and had antral follicle count (AFC)>6, FSH level<12. Superovulation was started with 75-150 U rec-FSH. Ovulation triggering was achieved with 250 mg of rec-hCG when ideally 2 follicles ≥16mm. Insemination was performed 36 hours after the hCG injection. Univariate logistic regression analysis was used to test for correlations between clinical/biological variables and the occurence of clinical pregnancy. Clinical pregnancy rate per cycle was 11.4 %. The significant parameters were BMI of woman, sperm concentration, total motile spermatozoa (TMS) count, inseminating motile sperm count (IMC) and day 3 serum FSH levels in the pregnant group versus in the nonpregnant group. BMI of the woman affects the pregnancy outcome negatively (P=0.017) with an OR of 0,906. Basal FSH was a significant negative predictive factor of IUI outcome (P=0.05) with an OR of 0,868. The sperm concentration was the strongest predictor of success in all indications (P=0.003) OR:1,007. TMS count and IMC were both significantly higher in pregnant group than nonpregnant group(P=0.022 and P=0.032) with OR of 1,002 and 1,007 respectively. This study was carried out to establish the strongest predictive factors for pregnancy in first IUI cycles. In summary we can say that; sperm analysis parameters as sperm concentration, TMS count, IMC are the most important factor on IUI outcome. Obesity of women which has an negative effect on IUI achievement can be modified to improve clinical pregnancy rates. Serum FSH concentration on the third day of the menstruation which presents ovarian reserve is also an important negative predictive factor." @default.
