- W2088264936 abstract "Abstract Rabbit liver fructose diphosphatase (FDPase) is activated by Mn2+, Mg2+ or Co2+ both at high pH and at low pH (8.8 and 7.3, respectively). Of the three cations only Co2+ produces greater activity at low pH than at high pH and only Co2+ gives a markedly cooperative activation curve (n = 2 at pH 7.3). These facts together with relatively high affinity and Vmax for Co2+ at low pH lead to the suggestion that one of the physiological activators for FDPase is Co2+. Biphasic activation curves are produced by Mg2+ at low pH and by Mn2+ at high pH. Values for the apparent Kd, relative Vmax and Hill constants for all three activators at both high and low pH are reported as well as constants for the second phase of Mg2+ activation and Mn2+ inhibition." @default.
