- W2089647234 abstract "The aim of the present study was to examine the mechanical behavior of anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL) and calcaneofibular ligament (CFL) ligaments. We performed a laboratory-based study of the ankle joint ligament in amputated leg. The specimens were tested in the intact and sectioning the ATFL first and CFL–ATFL combined condition. Two video extensiometer markers were placed on distal tibia medial and lateral side at 1 cm upper from the ankle joint and one of the over the navicular and one over the cuneiform, which is at the lateral side of the foot. External loads were applied vertically to five amputated material during the foot at neutral position and its resulting three-dimensional displacements were recorded. The biomechanical tests were performed by using the axial compression testing machine (AG-I 10 kN, Shimadzu, Japan). The displacements between medial side and lateral side of markers were measured with two non-contact CCD camera extensometers (Non-contact Video Extensometer DVE-101/201, Shimadzu, Japan). The axial compression was applied to each amputee materials with loading speed of 5 mm/min (max. 800 N). The load was applied to each specimen consecutively before and after the anterior tibiafibular, calcaneofibular ligament was sectioned and displacements values were evaluated and compared statistically. Sectioning both the ATFL and CFL, there was a slightly increase in the displacement of these two markers motion. Subsequent sectioning of the CFL did not significantly increase ankle-motion in testing. But when we checked the statistical data, there are numerical differences with these 3 groups but there is not significant change between intact materials sectioned from anterior tibiafibular ligament ( p =0.209), calcanoefibular ligament ( p =0.237). In conclusion this study gives some numerical and biomechanical properties of the anterior tibiafubularis and calcaneofibularis ligaments with neutral foot position. Instead of static position, dynamic or different foot positions may give more information about the ATFL and CFL ligaments biomechanics." @default.
