- W2091569328 abstract "Abstract 1. Intracellular recordings were made from identified central neurones from the snail, Helix aspersa . 2. Neurones were used which were inhibited by ionophoretic application of dopamine and a series of compounds examined for their potencies as dopamine antagonists. Potencies were determined in terms of pA 2 . 3. Ergometrine was the most potent antagonist with a pA 2 of 12.5 ± 0.1. Apomorphine and bromocriptine were less potent with pA 2 values of 8.4 ± 0.1 and 6.2 ± 0.2 respectively. 4. The benzamide sulpiride showed stereospecificity at this dopamine receptor since (−)-sulpiride and (+)-sulpiride possessed pA 2 values of 6.0 ± 0.1 and 4.7 ± 0.1 respectively. Zetidoline and the D1 selective antagonist SCH 23390 had pA 2 values of 5.3 ± 0.1 and 5.5 ± 0.1 respectively. 5. These results are discussed in terms of the D1 and D2 receptor classification for the Helix dopamine receptor." @default.
