- W2091925708 abstract "1. Whole Eisenia foetida extracts were assayed for the occurrence and levels of some of the more important metabolites concerned with glycolysis and the citric acid cycle. Similar data concerning possible associated co-factors (nucleotides) is also presented. 2. The free nucleotide pattern was found to differ from that of a previously studied oligochaete (Lumbricus terretris) and was more closely related to that of certain other invertebrates. 3. All the hexose phosphates of glucose and fructose associated with the inital stages of glycolysis were found to occur, but at low levels. 4. The levels of carboxylic acids detected did not wholly agree with earlier reports; large amounts of the dicarboxylic acids, succinic, fumaric and malic, were found with much smaller amounts of other T.C.A. cycle intermediates. 5. The results are discussed with reference to other annelids as well as other invertebrates and speculations concerning their significance made." @default.
