- W2092371487 abstract "Conflict of interest: none declared. A 38‐year‐old man presented with a 6‐month history of recurrent painful ulcers on the penis. He had a 23‐year history of Crohn's disease. Following an ileostomy 15 years ago, he had undergone four operations to resite his stoma due to multiple fistulas. His Crohn's disease had been quiescent for 2 years. He had been monogamous with a female partner for 12 years. He had undergone a vasectomy 4 years before presentation, but up until that time had used a condom and spermicidal gel. Physical examination revealed small multiple superficial ulcers around the foreskin, extending onto the glans penis, with thickening of the foreskin (Fig. 1). ... A punch biopsy of the ulcer edge was performed. Serological investigations for syphilis and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) were negative. Genital herpes cultures, and bacterial cultures, including chlamydia and gonorrhoea were negative. Serum angiotensin‐converting enzyme and calcium levels were normal. His chest X‐ray revealed no abnormality. Polymerase chain reaction of his skin/mucosal biopsy was negative for Mycobacterium tuberculosis." @default.
