- W2092908081 abstract "Some novel trinuclear, oxo-bridged materials of mixed-valence iron with higher carboxylic acids of the types [Fe 3 O(OOCCH 3 ) 3 (OOCR) 3 (C 2 H 5 OH) 3 ] and [Fe 3 O(OOCR) 6 (C 2 H 5 OH) 3 ] (where R = C 7 H 15 COOH , C 11 H 23 COOH or C 15 H 31 COOH) were prepared by the substitution reactions of μ 3 - oxo - hexakis ( acetato ) tri ( aqua ) iron ( II ) diiron ( III ). The materials isolated have been characterized by elemental analyses, conductivity and magnetic susceptibility measurements, infrared, electronic and mössbauer spectral data. The infrared spectra showed resolved bands arising from ν asym ( OCO ) and ν sym ( OCO ) vibrations of the bridging carboxylate along with ν asym ( Fe 3 O ) vibrations. Mössbauer spectroscopic studies revealed two resolved quadrupole doublets due to Fe(II) and Fe(III) at 295 K confirming the valence-localized classification of the materials. This has also been supported by the observed electronic spectral ???. Magnetic susceptibility measurements showed weak antiferromagnetic coupling related to mixed-valence pairs. A plausible structure for these materials has been established on the basis of spectra and magnetic moment data." @default.
