- W2093025711 abstract "Waste cotton activated carbon was used as an adsorbent for the removal of methylene blue from aqueous solutions. The prepared activated carbon was characterized by pore structure analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Batch adsorption studies were carried out and the effect of experimental parameters such as pH, initial dye concentration, and contact time on the adsorption was studied. The obtained equilibrium data were best fitted to the Langmuir model, with a maximum monolayer adsorption capacity of 344.82 mg/g. The kinetic data obtained at different concentrations were investigated using the pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, and intraparticle diffusion models. The experimental data were found to conform to the pseudo-second-order kinetics with good correlation. The adsorption mechanism was also studied. The obtained thermodynamic parameters indicated that the adsorption process was spontaneous and endothermic in nature." @default.
