- W2093365809 abstract "Abstract An uncharged microporous membrane prepared from ion-exchange membranes of the ‘Neosepta’ type by treatment with H2O2 has been found to record steady potentials when it separates two different concentrations of an alkali chloride. The potential values are higher than normal diffusion potentials and follow the order Li+ > Na+ > K+. When the membrane is impregnated with either potassium zinc ferrocyanide or potassium cobaltinitrite, the potential values indicate a preference for K+ ions and follow the order K+ > Na+ > Li+. The values, however, are less than the theoretical Nernstian values. Apparent fixed charges developed in both the precipitate membranes calculated using different classical methods have been found to be more or less in the order K+ > Na+ > Li+. The relatively good potential values for the potassium zinc ferrocyanide membrane suggest the better tightness of the pores." @default.
