Urine/plasma ratios for individual amino acids are presented and discussed in relation to the different species. 2. The urine/plasma ratio of histidine is higher than that of any other protein amino acid only in the human. Hyperexcretion of histidine in pregnancy seems to be confined to the human species. 3. The urine/plasma ratio of glycine is high in some species (human, sheep, cow) but not in others (cat, rabbit, rat). This may reflect that the filtered load of glycine (and histidine) is low or that there is a species difference." @default.
