- W2094229572 abstract "Leucaena leucocephala is a leguminous, deep rooting tree, increasingly utilized in “Low Input” mixed cultures under arid conditions to reduce mineral N requirements and to improve nutrient cycling. This work was carried out to evaluate the growth and N yield of Leucaena and Maize in sand culture with low (0,6 mM) nitrogen supply under saline conditions (NaCl; NaCl + CaCl2; NaCl + CaSO4). While the low N nutrient solution failed to sustain maize growth in monoculture, both Leucaena and maize grew well in mixed culture with considerable N yields suggesting significant transfer of N from Leucaena to maize. NaCl depressed the uptake of Ca and S and reduced growth and N yields of both crop species. CaSO4 counteracted partly the NaCl-effects. Wachstum und Stickstoffertrag von Leucaena leucocephala und Zea mays in Mischkultur unter dem Einfluß von Salz-Streß und Gips Leucaena leucocephala ist eine tiefwurzelnde Leguminose mit zunehmender Anwendung in “Low Input”-Mischkulturen unter ariden Bedingungen, um den N-Einsatz zu reduzieren und den Nährstoff-Kreislauf zu fördern. Die Arbeit befaßt sich mit Wachstum und N-Ertrag von Leucaena und Mais in Sandkultur bei limitiertem N-Angebot (0,6 mM) unter salinen Bedingungen (NaCl; NaCl + CaCl2; NaCl + CaSO4). Während die N-arme Nährlösung das Wachstum von Mais in Monokultur nicht aufrechterhalten konnte, wuchsen sowohl Leucaena als auch Mais in Mischkultur gut, mit beträchtlichem N-Ertrag. Daraus läßt sich ein beachtlicher N-Transfer von Leucaena zu Mais ableiten. NaCl hemmte die Ca- und S-Aufnahme und reduzierte das Wachstum und die N-Erträge beider Pflanzenarten. CaCl2 und CaSO4 wirkten den NaCl-Einflüssen entgegen." @default.
