Er, Dy, Ho, Tb and Gd reacted to form the cubic dihydrides and Yb reacted to produce orthorhombic YbH2. The results for Eu depended on the H2 pressure. In the range 0.2-2 Torr diffuse-ring electron diffraction patterns were obtained. At 10-3 Torr a sharp ring diffraction pattern consistent with orthorhombic EuH2 was obtained. Oxides of the form M2O3 were also observed. Some diffraction patterns obtained from Eu and Yb contained evidence of the presence of the monoxides EuO and YbO." @default.
