- W2094538862 abstract "Kinetics of change in body temperature are given for eight species of Lake Michigan fish exposed to instantaneous change in water temperature. Seven independent variables were tested by least squares to develop models to predict heating and cooling half-times and rate coefficients.1.1. Fish body wt was the best predictor of temperature change and explained up to 96% of the variability between individuals.2.2. Cooling half-times were significantly longer than heating half-times for live fish; no differences were found between heating and cooling of dead fish.3.3. Significantly longer half-times for dead fish and a direct relationship between the ratio of heating-cooling times and body wt demonstrated the relative importance of circulatory heat exchange. 1.
