Two peaks observed in the time-of-flight coincidence spectra of the product ion CH4Cl+ at collision energies Ecm = 2.4 and 3.6 eV are interpreted as corresponding to hydrogen atom abstraction and proton transfer mechanisms for the CH4Cl+ formation. Relative cross-sections have been determined for each of the two microscopic reaction mechanisms as a function of the internal energy of the reactant ion at two c.m. collision energies. The results demonstrate that the TESICO technique is capable of studying the two microscopic reaction mechanisms of reactions of the general form MH+ + MH → MH2+ + M separately, without using deuterium-labelled compounds." @default.
