- W2095692747 abstract "Space-time adaptive processing (STAP) normally requires knowledge of the inverse of the covariance matrix (ICM) of undesired signals for detecting desired target signals. The computational load of generating a reliable ICM prevents fully adaptive STAP algorithms from implementation in real-time radar systems. Presenting two Theorems, this paper shows that the ICM is approximately invariant to variations in clutter (echoes from the Earth surface) provided that radar and platform parameters remain unchanged. Based on this, pre-built space-time non-adaptive processing (PSTAP) is proposed. Detection of targets in real airborne radar data, the Multi-Channel Airborne Radar measurement (MCARM) data, as well as in simulated data generated by the airborne radar simulation software, Rome Laboratory Space-Time Adaptive Processing (RLSTAP), shows that the performance of the proposed PSTAP is virtually the same as STAP." @default.
