- W2097051504 abstract "Abstract Although in principle no minimum metallic conductivity σmin exists for disordered metallic systems, there appear to be many systems for which, when the zero-temperature conductivity σ0 has the value (0.03e2ha) calculated for σmin, σ is independent of temperature. We propose that for these systems, in the range of temperature of the experiments, the interaction with phonons or possibly spin waves is so strong that the quantum interference effect is absent, which implies the vanishing of the correcting term in eqn. (4) of this paper. It is this term that allows δ to drop continuously to zero. For transitions induced by a magnetic field, available experiments have shown that δ drops to zero as (H2 - H)v with v = 1 for several materials, but in InP there was some evidence for a minimum metallic conductivity. The reason for this is discussed, and it is proposed that v = 1 as for other systems. A further discussion of the apparent absence as noted by Mott in 1985 of quantum interference in liquid metals is given." @default.
