- W2098075644 abstract "as the web has changed the world to such a remarkable extent, relatively few descriptive theories and prescriptive models have been suggested thus far to guide software designers in their web developments. Indeed, the web as a scientific discipline is being shaped right now. What web scientists need is a systems approach that combines both the design of desirable web properties and understanding the web as a phenomenon. Computing science suggests a basis for doing this. The information systems discipline, much more clearly than the other sub-disciplines of computing, has the capability to help web science to advance as a field. The information systems discipline discusses the way in which end-users and organizations interact with the web and the way in which the web works with organizational and social processes. It also resembles web science in its multifaceted nature. For these reasons, web science may learn substantially from the methods and approaches in information systems. In a manner similar to how many think of web science currently, information systems was years ago considered only as a bridge between the business world and computer science. This provides a model that could also apply in the development of web science from a multidisciplinary field as it is now into a sound discipline." @default.
