- W2100087460 abstract "Abstract This study, within the discipline of International Human Resource Management, analyses the readiness of multinational enterprises to export their human resource management (HRM) system to their subsidiaries abroad, depending on the perceived quality of the system and the differences in the cultural contexts of the headquarters and subsidiaries. Using a qualitative exploratory study of 8 Basque firms and another quantitative study of a sample of 58 Spanish industrial multinationals, we conclude that the quality of the headquarters-based HRM system has a significant influence when it comes to deciding whether to export it to the subsidiary, whereas the difference in cultural contexts is not decisive when transferring the basic principles of the human resource system, although it is possibly decisive in the transfer of practices and sub-processes. Keywords: best practiceshigh-performance work systemsnational cultureSpaintransfer of HRM practices Notes 1. With regard to the assumptions of application and their pertinence, the correlation matrix demonstrates that the entirety of the correlations is significant, and that the value of its determinant is close to zero (0.102). In addition, the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin's measure of sampling adequacy and the Bartlett's sphericity test confirm the pertinence of the application, the former having a value (0.849) that was well above the minimum value habitually established (0.50) and the second having a χ2 value that shows an excellent level of significance (0.000). The total explained variance is nearly 56% (Table 6). 2. Cultural dimensions used in the study: individualism, power distance, uncertainty avoidance and masculinity. 3. As a preliminary step in the statistical analysis per se, various statistical tests were performed to rule out any bias caused by a lack of response among firms that could not be surveyed and also to check that in the final sample the absent data behaved randomly. 4. Relevant checks were made on linearity, normality, homoscedasticity, absence of autocorrelation and multi-collinearity." @default.
