- W2103165042 abstract "Abstract A method for the determination of dehydroascorbic acid (DHA) and ascorbic acid (AA) in red algae has been developed. The procedure is based on DHA-phenylhydrazone formation and on subsequent thin-layer chromatographic separation. The analyses carried out in Pterocladia capillacea indicate that the erect frond of the alga contains 4·86 μmol DHA and 4·42 μmol AA/mg dry weight. Consequently, the AA/DHA ratio is about 1. The possible significance of AA/DHA ratio in the control of P. capillacea growth is discussed." @default.
