The demonstrated simple mathematical formulae for Chaos Theory, which produced a series of graphs, altering significantly as the values for Peripheral receptor input and dorsal horn ‘wind up’ were varied Px+1 = Px[Px-1] x n x k Px pain perception day k = amount of spinal cord/dorsal horn(='wind up') and central processing effects n = extent of damaged entheses/receptors input. By gradually increasing the values of n and k it is possible to show the change from simple pain to increasing effects resulting in a chaotic pattern of pain perception and by allowing for entheses injections, the restoration of the normal baseline can occur. This graphic modelling allows patients to relate to a pictorial representation of their chronic pain pattern over time and they become more compliant with treatment options.
