- W2108681808 abstract "Pulse wave transit time (PWTT) can be used to measure blood pressure noninvasively, which involves measuring the transit time of the pulse pressure wave passing through the arterial tree and estimating the blood pressure by a linear equation. However, the equation in PWTT method is determined by two coefficients which are not uniform for different individuals. Therefore, the coefficients must be calibrated before monitoring the blood pressure using the equation. In the present study, the Korotkoff sound delay time (KDT) was used to obtain the coefficients of the equation and a new calibration method for PWTT blood pressure measurement was proposed. A change in KDT reflects the change in arterial pressure if the cuff pressure is held approximately constant. By recording the KDT and PWTT synchronously, and estimating the mean arterial pressure by the KDT, the coefficient b can be obtained by two methods: regress method and peaktrough method. The coefficient b obtained by two methods were -0.260 mmHg/ms and -0.267 mmHg/ms. The difference between the mean blood pressure estimated by the PWTT (using the above coefficient a and b) and the invasive mean arterial pressure was less than 5%. The present calibration method may increase the possibility of technical realization for long-time noninvasive continuous blood pressure monitoring." @default.
