Its roots posses contraceptive efficacy, while seeds are used as a blood purifier. Following vari- ous folk claims for the ailment of various diseases, efforts have been made by the researchers to verify the efficacy of this weed through scientific and biological screening. A scrutiny of the literature revealed some appreciable pharmacolog ical activities of this plant like antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral and antioxidant. This article reviews the researches acco m- plished with M. hamata.
