- W2109372154 abstract "The study was designed to evaluate the level of economic losses recorded in livestock industries in the six states of the northeastern part of Nigeria between 2012 t0 2014. The states are known for livestock production for quite longtime, but insurgence activities of Boko Haram cleared most of the livestock production industries in the attacked areas, as a result of feared installed on the farmers by Boko Haram sect, which forced them to flee and leaved the livestock without any attendants. This result to high mortality (roasted livestock) and casualty (injured livestock) recorded 2000±10.3, 300±7.8, 3000±9.5, 1000±9.6, 500±5.7, 3500±9.2 and 1000±9.1, 200±7.9, 4500±8.5, 500±9.3, 450±7.5, 6000±11.7 in Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe state respectively. About 2800±10.7 and 5500±9.6 of livestock were killed by gunshot and starved to dead respectively in Yobe state. Adamawa and Borno state which recorded livestock killed by gunshot and livestock starved to dead 1800±11.6, 2500±15.3, and 5000±12.6, 3500±8.4 respectively. The least mortality was recorded in Bauchi and Taraba states. The aim of the study was to estimate to losses encountered in livestock productions due to insurgence activities of Boko haram in the northeastern part of Nigeria." @default.
