- W2111010222 abstract "Abstract IT has been recognized for some time that biological availability of a given phosphate may be influenced by the composition of the diet in which it is fed. Scott et al. (1956, 1962) reported that soybean meal would increase the bone ash of turkey poults fed certain diets containing inadequate levels of CaHPO4, a phosphate which is poorly available to the poult. Jensen and Mraz (1966) demonstrated the same phenomenon in chicks fed purified diets based on isolated soybean protein. Carlson et al. (1964a,b) suggested that isolated soybean protein contained a rachitogenic factor and that heated soybean meal contained an anti-rachitic factor which overcame it when soybean meal was added to an isolated soybean protein diet. Griffith et al. (1966) and Jensen and Mraz (1966) reported the “anti-rachitic” or “phosphorus availability” factor of soybean to be associated with the water isoluble portion of soybean meal. Griffith et al. (1966) also . . ." @default.
