- W2111650206 abstract "A two-camera PIV technique was used to obtain angle resolved velocity and turbulence data of the flow in a lab-scale stirred tank, equipped with a Rushton turbine. Two cases were investigated: a single-phase flow and a gas-liquid flow. In the former case, the classical radial jet flow pattern accompanied by two trailing vortices was observed. In the latter case, the velocity of the radial jet was reduced, and the vortices were diminished by the presence of the gas. Gas cavities clinging to the back of the impeller blades were observed. Both cases were also investigated with the use of three-dimensional transient CFD simulations. For the single-phase flow the simulations in the impeller region correspond very well with the experimental data. For the gas-liquid flow both the mean and fluctuating liquid velocities in the impeller region are well predicted. This is also the case for the mean radial gas velocities. On a employé une technique de vélocimétrie par imagerie de particules à deux caméras afin d'obtenir des données de vitesse et de turbulence angulairement résolues dans le cas d'un écoulement dans un réservoir agité de laboratoire muni d'une turbine Rushton. Deux cas ont été étudiés : un écoulement monophasique et un écoulement gaz-liquide. Dans le premier cas, le profil d'écoulement à jet radial classique accompagné des deux vortex de sillage a été observé. Dans le deuxième cas, la vitesse du jet radial a été réduite et les vortex ont été diminués par la présence du gaz. Des cavités de gaz adhérant à l'arrière des pales de la turbine ont été observées. Les deux cas ont également été étudiés par des simulations CFD transitoires tridimensionnelles. Pour l'écoulement monophasique, la simulation dans la région de la turbine correspond très bien aux données expérimentales. Concernant l'écoulement gaz-liquide, les vitesses de liquide moyennes et fluctuantes dans la région de la turbine sont bien prédites.
