- W2112303373 abstract "Many common classes of systems (e.g., polymer/filler composites, chromatographic stationary phases, organically modified clays, hybrids obtained by sol–gel processes, zeolites and mesoporous silicas occluding guest organic molecules, and solid polymer electrolytes) can be grouped into the general category of organic/inorganic multicomponent materials (OIMM). Some peculiarities of OIMM, such as the different chemical compositions of organic and inorganic components, the nano- or microdispersions of the domains, and the dynamic heterogeneities, make solid-state NMR a particularly powerful technique for their investigation. Here, an overview of the possibilities offered by solid-state NMR for studying OIMM is presented, focusing on aspects particularly relevant to OIMM: properties of the organic–inorganic interface (interactions, chemical structure, and mutual spatial arrangement of the components), domain dimensions and dispersion, and structural and dynamic behavior of the individual organic and inorganic components. Applications of different techniques to a variety of OIMM are also discussed with specific examples." @default.
