- W2113231718 abstract "Panic disorder is considered by many to be a specific subtype of anxiety disorder in which biological factors may be of particular aetiological importance and pharmacotherapy an important pan of management. Pharmacological agents suggested to be effective include the tricyclic antidepressants, the monoamine oxidase inhibitors and more recently the benzodiazepines. Newer agents, particularly the 5-HT uptake inhibitors, also show promising anti-panic efficacy. Available data generally support these suggestions but leave questions regarding various aspects of pharmacological management unanswered. These include choice of pharmacological agent, optimum dose and duration of treatment and mechanism of action of the various pharmacological agents." @default.
