- W2114934342 abstract "Abstract Combining carbon‐neutral bioenergy with carbon capture and storage ( BECCS ) and thereby reducing CO 2 while providing energy is an attractive concept used in model projections meeting the 2°C target. However, it is questionable whether the necessary scale can be achieved in time and many other uncertainties remain ranging from technological issues and feedstock potentials to socioeconomic challenges and lack of certainty about the mechanisms in the climate system. In this article, a review of the status quo of knowledge on BECCS is given and its role for meeting ambitious climate stabilization goals is discussed. With the help of a techno‐economic engineering model, we provide examples of BECCS potentials in Korea, Japan, and Russia." @default.
