- W2115336543 abstract "INTRODUCTION Drug-related photosensitivity as a valid clinical entity is well established. It is typically activated by exposure to either sunlight or, commonly, UV radiation, type A. Many chemicals or drugs have the potential of inducing such phototoxic reactions [1]. Historically, chemicals found in various food stocks such as celery, limes, and carrots were most commonly known to cause photosensitive skin reactions in humans [2]. In the modern medical era, antineoplastic cytotoxic agents such as actinomycin C and doxorubicin were some of the first drugs to be recognized as a cause of such reactions [3, 4]. Apart from antineoplastic cytotoxic agents, other medications, particularly the class of antibiotics known as fluoroquinolones, have increasingly been shown to exhibit such untoward dermatologic side effects [5, 6]. Here, we report a case of an acute atypical radiationinduced dermatologic reaction in a patient with a recent history of two courses of levofloxacin within 90 days prior to starting his radiotherapy course." @default.
