- W2116818082 abstract "1. All breast lesions should be managed by the gold standard triple assessment (clinical examination, imaging and pathological analysis). 2. Imaging is vital to the process, and the imager should be trained in all modalities to fully assess a client. 3. Strict imaging criteria should be applied to images of a lesion so that any worrying or atypical features will trigger an appropriate management pathway such that the lesion is sampled or followed up suitably. 4. All clients are discussed at a multidisciplinary meeting to ensure that any discordance between the three arms of the triple assessment is managed in accordance with best practice. Imaging is a cornerstone of the triple assessment of both symptomatic and screen-detected breast lesions. It is accepted that best practice in assessing a client with a breast lump should include clinical examination, imaging and pathological analysis of any tissue biopsy. There are many modalities available for the assessment of malignant breast lesions and also, importantly, to guide accurate biopsy of such lesions. Radiologists and other breast imagers use mammography, ultrasound and MRI in routine practice in the diagnosis and follow-up of breast cancer. Here, we will discuss the pertinent imaging features seen with mammography and ultrasound in the assessment of a malignant lesion." @default.
