- W2117540004 abstract "A brief revision is presented firs about some of the variables cited in the literature to differentiate delinquent from non delinquent subjects. Special attention is paid to the variables employed in the study of delinquents women. In the Introduction it is affirmed that the majority of researchers find significant psychological differences between both populations. Next, a study is sketched that tries to gather some evidence against such position. There is a great disparity in the type of subjects used in these studies: there are control samples whose subjects not only are non-delinquents, are different in social class, cultural background, age, etc., in relation to the group of interest. After controlling these variables, a comparison between delinquent and non-delinquent women is made on the following variables: quantitative intelligence, qualitative intelligence, self-esteem, dogmatism, sincerity, neuroticism, extraversion and locus of control. Some support is found to the inicial hypothesis (there were not significant differenes between both groups) with one exception: qualitative intelligence. It is possible to explain this fact by considering that the women of the delinquent sample were in prison when research was conducted." @default.
