- W2119714503 abstract "Today’s National Airspace System is a dynamic system that can quickly experience problems during disruptive events, such as weather. High-density area departure and arrival management, which consists of multiple airports within close proximity, is particularly sensitive to changes in weather and congestion in the airspace and on the ground at airports. This paper describes an operational concept to help ensure safe, efficient, and stable traffic management under the Next Generation Air Transportation System through the enhancement of the departure and arrival concept and redistribution of roles and responsibilities between air traffic facilities. Research performed on the departure traffic management concept has led to plans for the integration of arrivals with departures to develop a comprehensive planning environment for the future of Air Traffic Management. This paper expands upon the departure traffic management concept to include capabilities and roles and responsibilities for the departure and arrival traffic management concept. The initial human in the loop experiment provided support for the departure traffic management concept and directed future planning for the integrated departure and arrivals decision support tool." @default.
