This low-time threshold is the Ehrenfest time ${ensuremath{tau}}_{E}$. Most previous studies of the ${ensuremath{tau}}_{E}$ dependence of quantum transport assumed ergodic electron dynamics, so that they could be applied to ballistic quantum dots only.
