- W2120250892 abstract "Inhalation of silica particles produces a chronic pulmonary inflammation response and the development of lung fibrosis and tumors in exposed rats. A variety of cytokines have been implicated in the recruitment of neutrophils into alveolar regions, including Interleukin-1 (IL-1), Tumor necrosis factor -a (TNF-a), KC and Macrophage inflammatory proteins 1 and 2 (MIP-1 and MIP-2). Alveolar macrophages (AM) secrete ex vivo at least two pro-inflammatory cytokines, TNF and IL-1 and these have been correlated with the development of silica-induced inflammation and fibrosis. This study was designed to elucidate the temporal sequence and mechanisms of particle-induced pulmonary inflammation following exposures to crystalline and amorphous silica, or titanium dioxide particles." @default.
