- W2121477979 abstract "SummaryE VALUATION OF CORONARY ARTERY DISEASE BYMYOCARDIAL PERFUSION IMAGING IN WOMEN The early diagnosis of coronary artery diseasecontinues to be a challenge in women becausenon invasive diagnostic tests to evaluate is-chemia, such as stress test are less accurate inthis group of patients. The aim of the study wasto assess the value of myocardial perfusion im-aging with SPECT for the detection of ischemia. Methods: We studied 151 consecutive womenwho were assessed by SPECT with Tc-99m Ses-tamibi, stress test and coronary angiography.Sensitivity and specificity was calculated for eachtest. Results: The prevalence of angiography-cally significant coronary artery disease was71.5%. The sensitivity and specificity of myocar-dial perfusion imaging for the detection of is-chemia was 91.6% and 87.9% respectively. Thesensitivity and specificity of stress test was 43%and 96.1%. Accuracy of myocardial perfusionimaging was higher in the group of patients old-er than 50 years of age, in whom severe coro-nary artery disease was more prevalent. Con-clusions: The result of this study suggest thatmyocardial perfusion imaging is a very useful toolfor detection of ischemia in women with CAD,especially for those over 50 years of age, beingsuperior to other non invasive tests as stress test.(Arch Cardiol Mex 2005; 75: 35-41)" @default.
