Infolge ihrer speziellen gegenseitigen Anordnung entstehen 8 große Hohlräume, welche (CH3Li)4 -Einheiten bis zu einem maximalen Verhältnis (CH3Na)4:(CH3Li)4 = 3:1 einschließen können. – Die Bindung in den (CH3Na)4-Gruppen entspricht noch weitgehend der von (CH3Li)4 mit stärker polarisierten Na3C-Vierzentrenbindungen. Preparation and Crystal Structure of Methylsodium with Variable Methyllithium Content, Compounds with (CH3Na)4 and (CH3Li4) Units Methylsodium has been prepared by the reaction of methyllithium with sodium tert-butoxide. Depending upon the reaction conditions the preparations contain variable amounts of methyllithium (Na : Li atomic ratio ca. 36:1 to 3:1). Their crystal structures could be determined from powder diagrams. All preparations have a cubic unit cell (a = 2020 pm, space group F 43c) with 24 (CH3Na)4 units. Their geometry is analogous to that of (CH3Li)4 with distances NaNa 312, 318, NaC 258, 264, and NaC 276 pm between adjacent tetramers. Due to their mutual arrangement 8 large cavities are formed which can incorporate (CH3Li)4 units up to a maximum ratio of (CH3Na)4: (CH3Li)4 = 3:1. – The bonding within the (CH3Na)4 groups resembles largely to that of (CH3Li)4 with more strongly polarized Na3C four-center bonds. The IR spectra of (CH3Na)4 and (CH3Li)4 are discussed." @default.
