The average department has a White officer population 13% greater than the White population in the jurisdiction. Equity level explains a small amount of the variance in either efficiency score (R2 =.01) or clearance rate (R2 =.03) outcomes, though under-equity significantly and positively relates to clearance rate when other factors are controlled (β =.19, p <.01). These findings suggest that efficiency is not enhanced and that effectiveness is marginally impacted in departments that are under-equitable. These results, though exploratory, suggest that there may not be a significant tradeoff in performance as Florida police agencies diversify and become more equitable." @default.
