For prototyping and small to medium series production, laser‐cutting channels and structures into thin polymer layers proved to be a flexible and versatile technology, whereas for later development stages leading up to preclinical trials, replication techniques such as microinjection molding and hot embossing are more suitable to achieve the required production volumes. This chapter discusses manufacturing concepts, material selection, microfabrication, surface modification, and bonding techniques for highly miniaturized polymer biosensors and bioanalytical systems." @default.
