Identifying gun violence as a public health issue is appropriate and necessary. The recommendations to reduce gun violence (background checks, elimination of physician “gag laws,” mental health care, sensible reporting laws, restrictions on assault weapons, and robust research) should be implemented. Hopefully, this “call to action” will be followed by a more favorable response than the position paper on the same topic published in this journal 20 ...References1.
