- W2128570831 abstract "Low voltage ride-through (LVRT) ability is required for most large wind farms in power systems, and the grid-connected wind turbine generator systems should satisfy LVRT requirements during different gird faults. A novel method to improve the LVRT of fixed speed wind generators using series reactor and SVC is proposed in this paper. Principle of this method is analyzed in detail which include using series reactor alone and using series reactor together with SVC. The series reactor can boost wind generator terminal voltage when grid fault occurs and potentially improve the system transient voltage stability and then reactive power can be compensated using SVC, which is not limited to the terminal voltage by using SVC alone so as to improve the low voltage ride-through ability of wind turbines. The novel method is verified by transient characterization and LVRT stability simulation of fixed speed wind generator using MATLAB. The effectiveness and validity of the proposed method is proved by simulation results." @default.
