Specifically, I aim to show, through the case of Chile, that the ‘political’ activity of the institutionalised feminist organisations is political representation.2 2. My empirical data were gathered during my fieldwork in Chile. I conducted 20 semi‐directive and 13 directive interviews (in 2003 and 2005) with personalities from the Chilean women's policy agency (Servicio National de la Mujer, SERNAM), NGOs, universities, political parties and the Congress. The first set was related to the role of feminist NGOs in the politisation of the question of women's political representation. The second set focused on the interaction between feminist NGOs and SERNAM around several issues such as parity, violence, media and justice. I also had the opportunity to be part of the official delegation of the Minister‐President of the French Community of Belgium (in 2005) and to assist the ‘participation and women's rights’ department of SERNAM (in 2006), in the context of the cooperation agreement between Chile, the French Community of Belgium and the Walloon Region in the field of gender equality." @default.
