- W2133184554 abstract "The two most important factors, substrate recognition and intermolecular catalysis in enzyme catalysis play vital roles in enzyme imitation. Glutathione peroxidase (GPx, EC 1.11.1.9) is one of the key antioxidant enzymes involved in scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS) in biological systems. Due to its biological importance and structural specificity, chemists and biologists attempt to mimic its function using different ways. Cyclodextrins have been widely investigated as enzyme models since their hydrophobic cavities are capable of binding small organic molecules. Thus, cyclodextrins have been widely used as scaffolds for constructing artificial selenoenzymes. In this chapter, we will focus on the introduction of the design and preparation of cyclodextrin-based mimics of GPx, including their catalytic mechanisms and substrate recognitions." @default.
