La encuesta se envió a los 1.300 pacientes miembros de Acción Psoriasis. Respondieron 289 pacientes en el plazo de un mes. Los resultados de esta encuesta ponen de manifiesto que la psoriasis afecta a las actividades sociales y laborales del paciente. Además ejerce una influencia negativa en su estado psicoemotivo, ya que constituye una causa importante de estrés e inseguridad. Más del 70% de los encuestados indicó estar descontento con el tratamiento y consideró que su médico no le proporcionaba el tratamiento más eficaz. Este estudio refleja que existe una discordancia entre la opinión del médico y del paciente en relación con la percepción de gravedad de la psoriasis. La psoriasis afecta a las esferas psicoemotiva, social y laboral del paciente. Los enfermos españoles de psoriasis reclaman una mayor comprensión por parte de sus médicos y reivindican un tratamiento eficaz y de fácil aplicación que permita la curación de su enfermedad o al menos una clara y rápida mejoría. Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune inflammatory cutaneous disease which, despite its benign nature, has an important impact on the patient’s quality of life. The main aim of this study was to determine the effect of psoriasis on the quality of life of Spanish patients. An additional aim was to analyze patients’ degree of satisfaction with their treatment and with their doctors’ understanding of their condition. A cross-sectional survey on the impact of psoriasis on quality of life was performed using a postal questionnaire. The questionnaire was sent to the homes of the 1,300 members of Acción Psoriasis, a Spanish association of psoriatic patients. Two hundred and eighty-nine of these patients replied within a month of receiving the questionnaire. The results of this survey suggest that psoriasis affects both the social and professional lives of patients. Moreover, it negatively affects their psychological and emotional status due to the stress and insecurity caused by the disease. More than 70% of the individuals surveyed reported they were dissatisfied with their treatment and believed that their doctors did not give them the most effective treatment available. Doctors’ and the patients’ perceptions on the seriousness of psoriasis differed. Psoriasis affects patients’ psychological and emotional status, as well as their social and professional lives. Spanish psoriatic patients report that they need greater understanding from their doctors and effective and easily applied treatment, which would allow a full recovery or at least a clear and rapid improvement." @default.
