- W2135396850 abstract "Abstract It is well known that the failure of fiber assemblies under tension-zero load and tension-compression load conditions takes place sooner than during the tension-tension cycle. A good explanation together with systematic test data in support of this observation is not found in the literature. A physical explanation of this observation and a theoretical model for fatigue failure of fiber assemblies under load-unload conditions are proposed. This model takes into account the kinetic theory of failure, reformation, and orientation, all of which may occur sometime during cyclic loading. The influences of these three processes on fatigue failure are discussed. Experimental data on fibers-especially rayon cords-are shown to support the predictions based on the theory." @default.
