Therefore, the dynamics of air-bearing sliders with ultra-low flying heights (FHs) becomes an important issue for HDDs. Two nonlinear air-bearing models are proposed to investigate the dynamic behavior of air-bearing sliders for HDDs with ultra-low FHs. A modified Newmark β method is developed for solving the nonlinear dynamic equation. Parametric studies are conducted to further investigate the dynamic property of the air-bearing slider models.
