The essential object of the paperisfault calculations which provide current at fault location as well as the currents through each branch the voltage at each bus of the power system to design ofan adequate protection scheme which requires a detailed realistic fault analysis, so that the appropriate protective schemes, relays circuit breakers can be selected to rescue the system from abnormal conditions with minimum time. It is known that the probabilities associated with the type, location of faults were obtained for 230 kV , line to ground , line to line, line to line to ground three phase as follows 0.7, 0.03, 0.18 0.09 respectively , the Occurrence series fault is also related to that of the parallel fault. Sometimes the circuit breakers of the two ends of a line to be protected do not open simultaneously when a line fault is being cleared. If only one circuit breaker has opened the fault is not fully cleared , short circuit current persists this case is combination of parallel series fault., The paper discusses the great variety of fault types that could arise on a power system. The most important techniques of this paper is the consideration of unequal magnitudes of source e.m.f with different phase angles to show their effect on fault analysis protection of the system . Furthermore, the algorithm worked out for the calculations is explained and the results of its applications to simple complicated sample of power system are reported.
