- W2141666482 abstract "Conflict of interest: the authors declare that they have no conflicts of interest. Imatinib, a tyrosine kinase inhibitor, is an effective treatment for Philadelphia chromosome‐positive leukaemias. We report the fourth case of an acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP), which occurred 4 weeks after initiation of imatinib. A 69‐year‐old woman of Pakistani origin was found by her general practitioner to have a persistently high white cell count. The patient presented to the haematology department, where further investigations revealed a BCR‐ABL transcript level of 85658, and a bone marrow biopsy showed features consistent with chronic myeloid leukaemia in the chronic phase. The patient was started on imatinib 400 mg daily. Four weeks later, she developed a widespread eruption over her trunk, axillae, groin and upper legs. On physical examination, ill‐defined patches of erythema with scaling were seen, along with studded pustules not related to the hair follicles (Fig. 1). The eruption was extremely pruritic and associated with a burning sensation. The patient was systemically well, and had no lymphadenopathy or facial oedema." @default.
