- W2141900967 abstract "Mixing characteristics of twin jets are currently of practical interest because of their applications on military aircraft. Previous research has shown that depending on the Mach number and nozzle spacing, two strong coupling modes can develop which can result in the engine nozzle structural fatigue and damage. In this paper the capabilities of the NPARC computer code as a tool in predicting the mixing characteristics, shock spacing, and shock strength of a twin jet is evaluated. Our preliminary calculations show that the computational results agree very well with the experimental data in the near field (less than about 30h downstream from the nozzle exit) but the shock strengths are underestimated in the far field." @default.
